DTE Systems had developed an add-on module for chip tuning of vehicles with i-ART injectors, as found for example in the new Toyota and Mazda engines.
The i-ART (intelligent accuracy refinement technology) is an advanced common-rail technology. Instead of a single pressure sensor, i-ART engines have a small pressure sensor in each injector. This adjusts the injection quantity individually for each cylinder. This means that the pressure per combustion process is the same for all cylinders. Standardised rail pressure tuning cannot handle this i-ART technology. Therefore, DTE chief developer Detlef Strube and his team have created a new auxiliary control unit for i-ART injectors by means of modular modifications and adaptations of software and hardware.
With PowerControl X i-ART, it is now possible to increase performance through chip tuning in vehicles such as the Toyota Hilux or Mazda CX-5. For this purpose, the power increase is connected to four injectors each. Rail pressure voltage is applied to each injector, creating a system with four rail pressure sensors. The performance enhancement uses the company’s own multi-characteristic field technology. In this way, the module optimizes crucial engine parameters in the Toyota Hilux, improving its speed and performance. The whole process takes place in real-time in order to permanently adapt the engine parameters to the driving style. In addition, the module saves up to 15% fuel when the driving style is adapted. To achieve this, the module raises the available torque and the efficiency in the relevant speed range. This enables earlier upshifting and consequently more efficient fuel use.
The PowerControl X i-ART module comes with a 3-year engine warranty. When changing the vehicle, the vehicle owner can carry out a retrofit to the standard condition himself or at DTE in Recklinghausen.
