ABB E-mobility has supplied Saudi e-mobility solution provider, Electromin, with EV chargers installed at 100 petrol stations across Saudi Arabia.
Tony Mazzone, director of energy & EV infrastructure, Electromin, said: “This is the first phase in the rollout of EV charging stations throughout Saudi Arabia, which is significant to the national strategy, 2030 vision and beyond.”
The Kingdom has announced the Saudi Green Initiative 2030, which aims to ensure that 30% of all vehicles in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, are powered by electricity. Significant measures are therefore being taken to expand the EV industry in Saudi Arabia through direct investments which are helping to create a more sustainable transport system.
Tony added: “According to studies, EV sales in the country will expand, with 1.3 million electric vehicles expected to be delivered in the next 8 years. Thus, we saw a need to establish an EV ecosystem in the region that provides a one-stop e-mobility solution for EVs while monitoring and maintaining the network of charging stations in a flexible and efficient manner.”
ABB E-mobility is among the world leaders in EV charging solutions and a partner of choice for the world’s biggest electric vehicle OEMs and nationwide EV charging network operators. The partnership between ABB E-mobility and Electromin supports the strategic environmental and sustainability goals for the country, which targets access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all and focuses on making Saudi Arabia’s cities inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.
Fadi Alshaikh, E-mobility lead for ABB in Saudi Arabia, said: “We are significantly expanding our e-mobility footprint and sustainability goals in the country. This partnership is momentous and supports the key objectives of ABB in Saudi Arabia – it shows our alignment and commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s 2030 vision.”
