FedEx Express has selected Abdul Latif Jameel (ALJ) Group as its service provider for Saudi Arabia.
The KSA-headquartered transportation company has taken responsibility for FedEx Express’ inbound and outbound services to and from 220 countries and territories.
FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corporation, is confident that its latest partner will enable it to grow its presence in the Kingdom.
“This strategic relationship with Abdul Latif Jameel Group aligns with our ‘customer first’ philosophy that defines our commitment to make every FedEx experience outstanding,” commented David Ross, senior vice president of FedEx Express operations in the Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent, and Africa.
“Together, we will grow the business and deliver excellent service to customers. As a large contributor to international trade, our current and prospective customers will continue to benefit from world-class shipping solutions, access, and enhanced connectivity,” he added.
Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) predicts that more than $100bn will be invested within the Kingdom’s transportation and logistics sectors over the next decade, providing a catalyst for international trade deals such as this. Moreover, by 2020, demand for air cargo is expected to grow by 5% and demand for sea cargo by 7%-8%.
ALJ Group contends that it has the necessary experience to help FedEx Express to take advantage of this environment, and to increase its KSA market share.
“Abdul Latif Jameel Group is proud to be selected as the global service provider of the globally renowned FedEx Express brand in Saudi Arabia,” said Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel, chairman and president of ALJ Group.
“Our Group’s 60 years of logistics experience, combined with our customer-centric approach, are the pillars that will support FedEx Express in becoming the premier transportation provider in the country, and a vital contributor to the Saudi Arabian economy,” he concluded.
The service provision agreement between ALJ Group and FedEx Express came into force on 1 January 2015.
