Mercedes-Benz Trucks MENA has launched a special edition Actros unit to celebrate its flagship model’s 20th anniversary.
The vehicle is equipped with a selection of the German automaker’s proprietary technologies, including Telligent Proximity Control, Telligent Lane Assist, active brake assist, an antilock braking system, and acceleration skid control (ASR).
The launch was conducted in collaboration with Emirates Motor Company (EMC), Mercedes-Benz MENA’s authorised distributor for Abu Dhabi.
Roland Schneider, president and chief executive officer of Daimler Commercial Vehicles MENA, said: “The launch of the 20 years Actros Edition is yet another milestone in the success story of our iconic flagship truck in the MENA [Middle East and North Africa] region.”
The special edition Mercedes-Benz Actros is powered by a six-cylinder Euro 3 engine, which boasts 435hp and 2,100NM of torque. It also features a twin-plate clutch and 16-speed Mercedes PowerShift automated gearbox.
In addition to the aforementioned technologies, a Bluetooth radio has been included to enable hands-free use of a mobile phone during operation. The truck’s FleetBoard telematics system, meanwhile, allows fleet managers to track the vehicle, record journeys, and continuously analyse and rate driver performance.
