Abu Dhabi Police has revealed that it will use 17 solar-powered radar devices to catch speeding motorists on the roads from Maha Forest to Ashoush, and Sudaira Tunnel to Al Faqa Intersection.
The speed cameras will become operational from 26 September, according to UAE state news agency, WAM.
Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, director of Abu Dhabi Police’s central operations sector, said that the devices form part of efforts to reduce accident rates and improve local traffic safety.
The radar traps are able to accurately identify violations on both sides of the road by calculating the distance between vehicles, according to Al Dhaheri.
