MAN Truck & Bus’s official partner in the UAE, United Motors & Heavy Equipment Co. (UMHE) has delivered 10 MAN Lion’s Coaches to the Sharjah Roads & Transport Authority (RTA).
The coaches are equipped with accident prevention features such as emergency brake assist (EBA), lane guard system (LGS) as well as adaptive cruise control (ACC).
It is the first time these safety features have been used on a MAN Lion’s Coach in the UAE and is in line with the Sharjah RTA’s vision for road safety in the UAE.
The ACC and EBA systems use radar and onboard cameras to detect the speed and distance of other vehicles ahead of the MAN Lion’s Coach on the road.
The vehicle automatically adjusts speed to ensure a safe distance is maintained and the EBA will initiate braking if the driver fails to react to warnings of potential collisions. Likewise, the LGS will warn drivers if they are drifting out of their lane.
Franz von Redwitz, managing director, MAN Truck & Bus Middle East, said: “Improving road safety is one of our highest priorities at MAN and we are honoured to be supporting the RTA Sharjah and our other regional partners by providing technology and training that can have a real impact on road safety in the Middle East.”
