IronPlanet has unveiled Marketplace Direct, a cloud-based platform that offers self-listing functionality to larger-scale equipment sellers.
The tool will allow sellers to better manage their assets and directly control the listing-management process, according to the online equipment auctioneer.
The system has been designed to increase sell-through of inventory, improve price performance, and reach the most buyers through their channels of channels of choice.
Matt Ackley, IronPlanet’s chief marketing officer, said: “IronPlanet is proud to announce another industry innovation that provides customers with unique, value-added services and a cutting-edge, technology-driven platform designed to improve return on investment.
“Marketplace Direct enables sellers to market equipment to their current client base in a private setting, or publicly to IronPlanet’s 1.7 million registered users worldwide.”
Marketplace Direct offers a variety of new options for sellers, including the ability to list inventory in fixed-price, make-offer, and non-featured online auction formats. By requesting inspections through the platform, users can automatically initiate IronPlanet’s IronClad Assurance process.
The system also enables sellers to: set payment, invoicing, and shipping terms; create custom storefronts to represent their listings; manually or automatically cascade items into IronPlanet’s featured events; select which buyers are able to see and bid on their listings; and receive reports on listings’ performance, traffic analysis, and user activity.
“Through [Marketplace Direct], we provide sellers with more control and choice over timing, price, and formats than they would receive in a typical live auctions-only setting,” Ackley added.
