UK-based plant hire firm Speedy has appointed Mark Rogerson MBE as its new chief executive.
Rogerson replaces Steve Corcoran, who resigned from his post following the discovery of irregularities in Speedy’s Middle East accounts during the final quarter of 2013.
“I am very excited to have been offered the opportunity to lead Speedy at a time when our nation’s economy and growth are recovering,” said Rogerson in reference to the UK’s improving financial status. “Speedy’s breadth of assets, depth of capabilities and the passion of our people will enable us to differentiate our service offering, and I very much look forward to working with our customers to ensure we deliver exceptional outcomes for them.”
Rogerson, who joined the Speedy board in December 2013 as chief operating officer, assumes his new responsibilities with immediate effect.
“The board and I are delighted that someone of Mark’s calibre and drive has taken up the challenge to lead Speedy at this exciting point in its development,” said Speedy chairman Ishbel Macpherson. “We look forward to working with him.”
Speedy appointed forensic experts to conduct an investigation following the discovery of financial irregularities pertaining to its International Division. Investigations are ongoing. Although Corcoran stepped down from his role of chief executive in the wake of these revelations, he is not personally implicated in the accounting irregularities.
Speaking of Speedy’s former chief executive, Macpherson added: “Steve has been at the forefront in the transformation of Speedy and I would like to personally thank him for his commitment and leadership and wish him well in his future career.”
