Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) Limited Middle East and North Africa (MENA) has chosen Dubai as the location of its headquarters in the region.

The automotive manufacturer’s planned base will be built in Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), and will comprise a training academy, an engineering testing centre, a customer relations centre, a training workshop, and a training showroom for the sales staff.

Expected to be ready for handover by Q1 2020, the headquarters will span 14,000 square meters once it’s completed, Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) announced, revealing that it has signed a partnership agreement with the regional branch of Jaguar Land Rover Limited.

Commenting on the agreement, Dr Mohammed Alzarooni, vice chairman and chief executive officer of DSOA, said: “Our partnership with JLR aligns with our goal of supporting the research and development of new mobility technologies, such as hybrid cars, electric vehicles, and artificial intelligence for vehicles.”

Meanwhile, Bruce Robertson, managing director of JLR MENA, added: “We are delighted to launch our new regional headquarters in Dubai and proud to partner with DSOA. We are confident that [the]regional office will enable us to add great value to our operations in the Middle East and North Africa.”

A wholly owned entity of the government of Dubai, Dubai Silicon Oasis operates as a free zone technology park for large enterprises, as well as small- and medium-sized companies looking to establish headquarters and research and development centres in the region.
