HD Hyundai XiteSolution Co., a global machine parts manufacturer and sub-holding company of South Korea’s HD Hyundai Group, has opened a virtual training centre, encompassing digital technology that reproduces actual construction equipment.
The 63-square-metre virtual training centre located at HD Hyundai Global R&D Centre in South Korea’s Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, offers not only controlling experiences but also incorporates various construction environments, including mines, mountains, caves and urban settings, in virtual reality setting, allowing employees to understand construction equipment in three dimensions.
The centre features a total of 16 medium and heavy equipment models, including five medium-sized excavators, four wheel loaders, and four forklifts, which are made into RC models to allow for a broad range of experiences.
HD Hyundai boosts R&D with VR and digital twin
HD Hyundai XiteSolution aims to elevate the understanding of construction equipment among its employees while utilising virtual reality and digital twin technology to boost its research and development capabilities.
“By implementing terrain information, we can guide operators with information that can be used as a reference for their work,” said Oh Dae-jin, a senior researcher at HD Hyundai XiteSolution’s structural research team.
Oh noted that the company conducted a pilot training for 300 employees and received feedback that it was similar to actual vehicle training.
“We plan to proceed with formal training courses moving forward,” Oh said.
HD Hyundai XiteSolution was formed in 2021 to create synergies between HD Hyundai Construction Equipment (HCE), which sells Hyundai branded machines, and HD Hyundai Infracore (HDI), which makes the Develon line of construction equipment.
