Restrata has won a contract to supply 500 customised vehicles to UAE-headquartered logistics firm, Aramex.
The fleet will be fitted with in-vehicle monitoring devices in a bid to improve asset visibility and operational efficiency.
The on-board technology can also be used to track leased sub-contractor vehicles.
Implementation of the contract began in Q2 2017. The bespoke fleet will be used to conduct UAE-specific and cross-border logistics activities.
Shadi Abduhijleh, freight operations manager at Aramex, said: “Through Restrata’s technology, we are able to have total asset visibility, a portable solution for leased sub-contractor vehicles, and operational efficiency.
“Restrata’s technology has exceeded our expectations,” he continued. “We are now able to quickly install hardware on vehicles as they arrive to collect consignments, dynamically route vehicles, and engage with sub-contracted drivers in real-time, as a direct result of this.
“We have seen substantial savings in operational costs, and are able to work much more efficiently with our subcontractors,” Abduhijleh added.

Aramex’s chief executive officer, Hussein Hachem, said that this type of technology is vital for modern logistics companies.
“I don’t see digital as a luxury; it is a necessity, and we are predominantly going down that route,” he explained.
Commenting on the contract win, David Nicholls, vice president of situational awareness and telematics at Restrata, said: “We have secured a 36-month contract with Aramex to supply a customised, portable, in-vehicle monitoring kit that will enable total visibility and monitoring, in real time, of its mobile delivery assets.”
