The new charging stations were opened in Abu Dhabi, Fujairah, Al Ain, Sohar, and Muscat last month.

The network of EV charging stations will allow electric car owners to travel across the Emirates, all the way to Muscat, and reduce their recharge frequency.

Green Parking said it expected to substantially increase the number of EV charging stations in UAE and Oman within the coming months.

“Electric vehicles are the future of transport and they will soon be a common sight on UAE’s roads,” Sam Alawiye, chief executive officer of Green Parking, said.

“We are delighted to be helping to lay the foundations for a revolution in transport in the Middle East.”

Green Parking has tied up with hotels and resorts at key locations in UAE and Oman, including Danat Al Ain Resort, which is the only charging point between Abu Dhabi and Sohar.

Commenting on the development, Ahmed Margoushy, general manager of Danat Al Ain Resort, said: “We are pleased to be the first hotel in Al Ain to have an EV charging station which will be an added facility to our resort.”

Green Parking will also distribute free charging cards to all EV owners in UAE and Oman until 2019.

Green Parking is part of The FutureLink Group and has been in the UAE since 1996.
