Abu Dhabi Police has announced that no road traffic accidents were reported in the city on Sunday, 8 January, the emirate’s first school day of 2017.

Officials attributed the accident-free day to ‘Together for the safety of our kids’, a public education campaign designed to promote the safety and security of pupils during the new school year.

Praising the positive response of motorists in general, and school bus drivers in particular, Abu Dhabi Police said that road users were adhering to the safety-related rules and guidelines.

Abu Dhabi Police also stressed the importance of its strategic partnership with Abu Dhabi Education Council, noting that there are several authorities that share responsibility for pupils’ safety.

Officials have called upon educational authorities, and those working in the field of student transportation, to continue to meet mandatory requirements in order to assure Abu Dhabi’s school buses remain safe.
