Thirty of the UAE’s top excavator operators battled to outmanoeuver one another in their earthmovers to win the Komatsu Excavator Operator Contest 2017 in Abu Dhabi, organised by Komatsu’s exclusive UAE dealer Galadari Trucks and Heavy Equipment Co. (GTHE).

The creative contest saw the operators thinking on their feet while vying to be the nimblest in controlling an oscillating ball and being the first to put it inside a tube.

The top three winners were Bilal Ali from Abdulla Al Qamzi Transport & General Contracting, Said Elsayed from Saif Al Jabri General Contracting & Transport and Haytham Zeyada from Emirates Roads Contracting Co.

Ashraf Hasish, senior general manager–marketing, Komatsu Middle East, said while the competition was aimed at consolidating the brand’s relation with machine operators and enabling them to get the experience of Komatsu’s latest machine technology.

“The fine work control and accuracy of the Komatsu machines enabled the operators to control the oscillating ball and put it inside a tube,” Hasish said.

Samer Khalid, general manager, GTHE, said: “Operators are the hidden soldiers, and we regularly hold such contests to express our appreciation for their tremendous efforts.”
