Global law firm Clyde & Co is expanding its international trade and transportation practice in Saudi Arabia. The company has appointed senior associate Khurram Ali in Riyadh to lead its expansion in Saudi Arabia, making Clyde & Co the only international law firm with a dedicated trade and transportation specialist based in the Kingdom.

Clyde & Co has operated in Saudi Arabia since 2009, and is the only fully-integrated international law firm in the country with full rights of audience before the local courts, offering legal services across all sectors to both local and international companies.

Khurram joined Clyde & Co’s Dubai office in 2013 and has more than 15 years of experience in dispute resolution. He primarily focuses on shipping and transportation as well as commodity disputes and general commercial litigation. Khurram has also advised several government bodies on aspects of their shipping and transport regulations.

The international trade and transportation team in Riyadh led by Khurram Ali includes Saudi qualified advocates Abdullatif Albunayyan (associate) and Mohammed Aldowish (associate). Partner Rob Lawrence will continue to oversee Clyde & Co’s international trade and transportation practice in the Kingdom from the Dubai office.

Christopher Jobson, partner at Clyde & Co and head of dispute resolution for the Middle East, said: “The growing activity we are witnessing in the Saudi market is unprecedented and required a dedicated expert with the right know-how. Khurram is an exceptional practitioner and will be a great asset for our clients.”

Khurram Ali said: “Saudi Arabia is experiencing exciting developments and Vision 2030 is already leading to key investments for transportation, trade and logistics. I’m looking forward to assisting clients in those projects across the Kingdom.”
