Daimler AG has appointed Mark De Haes as president and CEO of Daimler Middle East & Levant (DMEL).

De Haes will head operations across 13 countries from the automaker’s regional headquarters in the UAE.

Having joined Daimler AG in 1988 as a marketing analyst, De Haes’ long career over the past 26 years has included senior management positions across a variety of divisions and countries within Europe. Most recently, he was CEO of Mercedes-Benz Belgium Luxembourg, a position he had held since 2006.

A Belgian national, De Haes is a graduate of the University of Leuven in Flanders, Belgium.

Dr Till Conrad, overseas chief for Mercedes-Benz, commented: “We welcome Mark De Haes as the new President and CEO of DMEL, as have every confidence that his contribution will support the continued growth of the company and strengthen the overall performance of the business.”

“We would also like to thank Mike Belk for his valuable leadership of DMEL over the last five years and we wish him success in his new role as managing director of Mercedes-Benz Trucks in the UK,” he added.
