IronPlanet has appointed Ken Calhoon to the position of vice president for data analytics and machine learning.
Calhoon, who is an alumnus of Stanford University and holds an MBA from Harvard University, has more than 30 years of experience in the technology sector.
In his new role, Calhoon will be responsible for increasing IronPlanet’s analytics and artificial intelligence efforts in a bid to further expand its data-driven technology platform.
Commenting on the appointment, Matt Ackley, chief marketing officer of IronPlanet, said: “Data science and analytics [are] foundational to building efficient marketplaces and providing our valued customers with the best solutions to meet their varied heavy-equipment needs.
“With his proven record of success, we are excited to have Ken Calhoon lead these efforts. His expertise will help ramp our data analytics and machine learning capabilities to further unlock the power of our online approach.”
Most recently, Calhoon was vice president and consulting director for digital business consulting at Forrester Research, where he built a new digital business consulting practice that delivered more than 80 projects to financial services, retail, and business-to-business (B2B) clients.
During the course of his career, Calhoon has also held senior positions at companies including eBay, Mitsubishi Electronics, OES Equipment, and Bain & Company.
IronPlanet is confident that he will be able to apply his business and data analytic expertise to improve its online and onsite event performance, identifying key data-based performance drivers across all of its marketplaces.
