CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2014 and IFPE 2014 have opened their doors to the public.
Organisers of the shows, which are co-located at the Las Vegas Convention Centre, say that this year’s iterations have already broken some of the records set by their predecessors.
Megan Tanel, show director for CONEXPO-CON-AGG, said: “It is an incredible show and it is breaking a number of records. We have over 2.35m net square feet of space, that’s both indoor and outdoor. It’s the largest that we’ve ever been. I really don’t think we’d go anywhere else but here in Las Vegas to hold it.”
Despite CONEXPO’s North American location, Tanel is confident that this year’s show will play host to a significant international contingent.
“We are expecting currently around 125,000 to 130,000 people to join us this week in Las Vegas from all over the world,” she explained. “The last time our show was here, we had record-breaking international participation with almost 25%, and we expect to achieve that again this time. We’re really excited to have people coming from countries all around the world to join us.”
IFPE focuses on developments within the fluid power industry. Although niche in comparison to CONEXPO, this event has also experienced significant growth.
“We have 8% more exhibitors and over 20,000 square feet at IFPE than we did in the 2011 show,” said show director Melissa Magestro. “That’s more companies, more products, and more new innovations for visitors to come and see. We’ve got three international pavilions this year: Taiwan, China, and Italy. Those pavilions have also grown by a number of exhibitors.”
The two shows will run until Saturday 8 March. In-depth coverage of CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2014 will be included in the April issue of PMV Middle East.
