Turkish contractor Eksen Project Construction is using Dynapac pavers to resurface highways near Istanbul.
The fleet of Dynapac asphalt pavers and rollers are being used during night work on urban highways in an intensive use of equipment to complete the job to high quality and in the briefest period of time.
Eksen is operating two Dynapac F181C large tracked pavers, one SD 135C medium-sized tracked paver, two CA 282 single-drum vibratory rollers, two CC 422 tandem rollers, one CP 271 pneumatic roller, and two CC 524HF double-drum vibratory rollers. The machines have been supplied by Dynapac’s distributor in Turkey, Teknomak Makina Inc.
The two F 181C paving machines are being deployed on the D-100 trunk road at the stretch between the cities of Gebze and Cayirova, about 30km from the centre of Istanbul.
The SD 135C paver is a recently delivered machine and is being used on the nearby E-6 highway, where it is resurfacing a stretch of the main road, and slip roads and intersections.
On the D-100 project the average width of each carriageway is 5 m, and the highways department is closing one carriageway at a time each night at 10 pm to allow Eksen to work.
The highway has a base of between 10 and 13 cm, with a layer of between 8 and 10 cm binder and 5 to 6 cm of wearing course.
The F 181C is a large tracked paver with a basic width of 2.55 m which can be extended to a maximum of 10 m. Fitted with a 6 m3 hopper, it is able to lay a maximum of 800 t/h, with a paving speed of up to 20 m/min.
Fitted with extra long tracks as standard, the paver provides an even surface that is then compacted to almost
100% by a Dynapac vibratory compactor and then smoothed with a Dynapac pneumatic roller.
With the two F181C pavers working in tandem on the same stretch of highway, the contractor is able to cover on average one kilometre of road resurfacing before work has to stop at 6am to allow the traffic to begin flowing again.
