Visitors from the Middle East increased as more than 150,000 visitors attended Bauma China last week, a rise of 33% on the previous event in 2008.

The organisers Messe Munchen said the visitors travelled from over 165 countries to the event, including parties from Korea, India, Japan, Russia, Malaysia, Brazil, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Australia.

A largely bouyant show saw Terex take its largest ever order for cranes in the country among a raft of large orders and product launches.

Among them was Ulrich Reichert, the managing director of Wirtgen Group’s Chinese subsidiary announcing that his company was planning on entering the crusher market in 2012.  He added that his company had seen visitors from “India, Russia, CIS countries, Latin America and the Middle East.”

Despite taking place in the same week as the Big 5, exhibitors noted that Middle East visitors had been out in force.

“There was an increasing number of foreign visitors from Asia and the Middle East,” said Walter Hess, managing director, Hess Group.

“The enormous growth in visitor numbers as well as the outstanding positive feedback from our exhibitors is impressive evidence that Bauma China is the leading business platform for the construction industry in China and Asia,” enthused Eugen Egetenmeir, managing director of Messe München.
