US giant Caterpillar has introduced a new excavator for the MENA market.
The new 90 metric ton Cat 390D L hydraulic excavator, which replaces the 385C L, incorporates a design that provides greater hydraulic power, stronger structural components, added safety and convenience features, plus improved serviceability, the company claims.
In a statement, the company said that: “The net result is a more productive, more durable, more efficient machine that is comfortable to operate and can take on the toughest jobs in a range of heavy construction and mining applications”.
Powering the new 390D L is the 18 litre diesel engine, which is EU Stage IIIA and US EPA Tier 3 compliant and rated at 523 hp (390 kW). The C18 features advanced electronic control, precise fuel delivery and refined air management for optimum performance, fuel efficiency and emissions control. Its maximum lift capacity is 28 tonnes, up from the 24 tonnes of the 385C L.
In addition to the excavator, Cat has introduced a new line of buckets for the 390D and its 374D hydraulic excavators. The new line of pin-on and coupler buckets will also become available for the E-series excavators later on down the line.
“Caterpillar has a 35-year legacy designing and manufacturing excavator buckets worldwide. Our engineers have listened to customers operating in various applications around the world and integrated their input into the buckets. As always, you can count on genuine Cat quality built in every bucket,” enthused David Becktel, Commercial Manager Caterpillar Work Tools.
