Road machinery manufacturer Vögele claims its new production facility for road pavers is the most advanced yet.

Production of asphalt pavers has started in the new factory, the biggest single investment in machinery ever undertaken by Vögele.

The $138 million project was constructed on a 370,000m2 site, with 60,000m2 dedicated to indoor production of road pavers and screeds.

The decision to build on a greenfield site allowed Vögele to design the plant entirely to spec, including a $4.8 million in new flexible manufacturing system that can store structural steel components within a single machine while drilling and milling is done together. Vögele are pushing the site’s environmentally friendly attributres and estimate that this can cut production time by up to 25 percent.

In addition, coatings are also applied without solvents, cutting emissions, which Vögele claims limits pollutants and enhances the site green credentials too.
