Is this the world's smallest working digger?

It is more likely to be seen in a gold souk than a construction site but UK sculptor Adrian Thompson has made a miniature working model of a JCB digger which he hopes to sell to the machinery giant.

The miniscule working model of a JCB digger is the size of a pinhead and despite of being made from 22ct gold is barely visible to the naked eye. Thompson, who currently works as a driver, told local media that he hopes the tiny machine will get him the publicity he needs to launch his career as a miniature gold artist.

“It’s the smallest JCB on the planet and the front loader is operated using a single cat’s whisker. Is it crazy? YES! Can you work it? Yes you can! It’s an interactive piece. Possibly the first in the world to my knowledge,” said Thompson.

There is no word yet if there are plans to improve driver comfort in the next version of Thompson’s JCB.

You can see a short clip of the digger in action here.
