UAE conglomerate and construction player Al Jaber Group has entered into an agreement with Turkey’s FNSS Savunma Sistemleri to produce wheeled armored vehicles in the UAE for armed forces.
The companies formalised their agreement at IDEX 2011, an international defence trade event being held in Abu Dhabi this week, and Al Jaber chairman HE Obaid Khaleefa Jaber Al Murri, told the media that that it will strengthen the company’s position as a major supplier to the UAE’s armed forces.
“This industrial partnership is of strategic importance, it builds on our diversification philosophy and supports our advanced position as a main supplier of the UAE Armed Forces,” he said. “Our partnership with FNSS will enable us build the most advanced WAVs in the region, with FNSS know-how and our manufacturing capabilities we are certain that we will provide an outstanding product that caters to the requirements of the UAE Armed Forces and creates future opportunities for both.”
The JV will produce a vehicle based on the Ankara-based FNSS’ Pars (Turkish for Anatolian leopard) amphibious armoured vehicle.
