Saudi Arabia has issued contracts for the building of 1,865km of roads as part of its nationwide programme of road building.
Jabara Al-Seraisry, Saudi’s transport minister, earlier this week signed off a collection of contracts valued at $634 million. The contracts are being awarded as part of a wider programme of road-building, with the KSAÂ budgeting $3 billion for 389 new road projects that will stretch for a total length of 6,600km.
According to the Saudi Press Agency the ministry has also set aside $200 million for road maintenance and $13 million for studies on a potential 2,762 km of new roads.
The majority of the latest batch of contract will be focused on the Riyadh area, including the first phase of Alkharj-Quwaieya Road, the phase II of Afif-Dhalam Road and the road linking Riyadh-Qassim Road with Riyadh-Huraimala
