David Brown, one of the world’s leading gear manufacturers and engineering companies, has opened up a new facility in the Jebel Ali Free Zone on the outskirts of Dubai.
Representatives of JAFZA were joined by HM General Consul for Dubai Guy Warrington and David Brown’s chairman Jim McColl and CEO John Paterson at the tape-cutting opening ceremony yesterday.
Work at the facility begin March and with a batch of crane gearboxes already parked and ready to work on, the 1,100m2 facility will go into full service today. The company said that it will provide quick turnarounds for its target customers in the oil and gas, construction, cement and petrochemical industries.
McColl explained that David Brown, once the owners of the Aston Martin and Lagonda car brands, viewed the facility as part of its strategy to serve local markets with “locally employed specialist teams.”
While there is now a range of free zones in the GCC region, Paterson is happy the company chose JAFZA.
“JAFZA have been extremely supportive,” he said. “Dubai remains unrivalled location in terms of its logistics and links. Frankly if your company is coming to the Gulf, this is the place to be.”
Paterson added: “This new facility brings us another stepcloser customers in the region, allowing us to respond extremely quickly to their needs and requirements. This is especially important in industries that can’t afford to wait. That’s we also offer maintenance and asset management services.”
