Dubai-based Manlift is to concentrate its expansion plans away from the UAE and the booming market in Qatar its managing director has revealed.

John Ashcroft told International Rental News (IRN) that the generator market in the two countries is already well over-saturated.

“There are simply too many generators,” he commented.

Manlift’s 150 MW power fleet currently includes a mixture of 500 kVA gensets and the 800/1250 kVA units essential for large developments and projects. Having already proven successful at deploying its larger units, the power fleet and aerial platform rental company will look to place its power fleet elsewhere in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia.

“About 50% of our large units are now outside our existing Middle East areas, in Africa or other Middle East countries,” he revealed. “We will expand our fleet over the next six to 12 months, definitely.
