Cummins Emirates, the sales and services arm of Cummins Middle East, has signed a deal to provide hundreds of generators to the recently launched energy division of Al Faris Equipment Rentals, the UAE lifting and construction services provider.
The deal will serve to significantly boost both companies’ presence in the region. Cummins will capture approximately 35% of the power generation market, while Al Faris hopes its energy division will capture a major share of the rental market.
“The launch of the energy division of Al Farris Equipment rentals is a significant addition to the regional power rental scene,” said El Arabi Almaz, sales manager for Dubai and Northern Emirates, Cummins Emirates.
“We are optimistic that clients will have the opportunity to experience the highest industry standards by two industry leaders working together.”
“Our decision to rely exclusively on Cummins was driven by the fact that Cummins offers superior engineering and design capabilities for turn-key projects, which are essential for our customers,” explains Ramesh Achar, general manager, Al Faris Energy Division.
The generators will range from 30kVA (kilo Volt-Ampere) to 1250kVA and will be delivered over the next 18 months. They will be used to provide temporary power for mid to large-scale construction sites across the region. Cummins will also provide an after-sales package that will include spare parts, maintenance and training.
Analysts are forecasting that the GCC is expected to require more than 100 GW of new power capacity in the next ten years. It is also estimated that the UAE’s power generation market will exceed US $200 million by the end of this year, of which 25% will come from the power rental business.
