JCB has reported 2011 annual revenue of £2.75 billion ($4.4 billion), the highest recorded in its 66-year history.

The 2011 figure represents a 37% increase on 2010, and more than double JCB’s £1.35 billion sales recorded in 2009.

Machine sales in 2011 totalled 69,100 units, growth of 34% on the 51,600 units sold in 2010.

JCB also retained its position as the number one manufacturer in the world of backhoe loaders and telescopic handlers.

According to JCB Chairman Sir Anthony Bamford, the result came from growth in both traditional markets and the emerging economies.

“While we are mindful of the continuing economic and political uncertainties in some parts of the world, JCB’s on-going investment in its 22 global factories, coupled with the biggest product launch programme in our history, means we are well placed to seize new opportunities for growth and deliver another strong performance in 2012,” said Bamford.

The company says it will unveil 66 new products for the global market through-out 2012.
