MAN has announced a contract to supply 72 trucks to the Kuwait Municipality, part of what is likely to be a larger commitment in 2012.

The German manufacturer of commercial vehicles says it expects 112 units to the Kuwaiti market this year, with two more deals in the pipeline, of 22 and 18 units respectively.

MAN’s Kuwaiti dealer is projecting sales of 175 units – including trucks and buses units – in the market this year, according to Muttaqui Asghar, sales manager of Al Ahlia Heavy Vehicles Selling & Import.

“MAN already has a very strong presence in Kuwait with steady sales of commercial vehicles in the market over the past five years.”

Asghar says the quality of the trucks, and the strong service footprint, makes them “the perfect partner to support the Kuwaiti government’s drive for modern and efficient civic infrastructure development”.

MAN have a portfolio of trucks ranging from six to 41 tonnes gross vehicle weight, which includes offerings serving the waste-disposal sector, road and conduit cleaning and maintenance sectors in addition to the wider passenger transport, goods transport, logistics and other commercial vehicle sectors.

The Municipality contract follows a successful showing by MAN at IFAT ENTSORGA 2012, a leading trade fair for environmental solutions held in Munich.

Also at IFAT were a delegation from Bee’ah, the fully integrated environment and waste management company, who were investigating new equipment to improve recycling and street cleaning performance in Sharjah

The company says it is acquiring a new fleet and modern machinery specialising in street cleaning and waste management, relating to its goal of achieving its zero-waste to landfill goal.
