Doosan Infracore Construction Equipment has celebrated the 40th anniversary of the permanent 6-wheel drive system on its articulated dump truck (ADT) range.
The firm has also announced that it is renaming its Norwegian factory, which produces the dump truck range, dropping the Moxy name and renaming it Doosan Infracore Norway AS.
Doosan acquired the Norwegian company Moxy in 2008, and in 2011 dropped the Moxy name from its ADT range.
An anniversary event was held at the company’s ADT plant in Elnesvagen, Norway, was attended by over 50 dealers and customers from Saudi Arabia, Germany, Italy, USA, Canada, Norway and Russia.
Commenting on the name change, Stefan Brosick, general manager of Doosan Infracore Norway said that both factory and production remain the same, with no change to its ownership.
“This name change not only illustrates Doosan’s intentions to further integrate the facility into the Doosan group, but also reinforces Doosan’s presence in the ADT market.
“Typical of this have been the new investments this year including a new production line and a new shot blasting facility.” Further investments will be announced shortly, said Brosick.
Moxy sold its first articulated dump truck, the Viking D15 with a six wheel drive, in 1972.
Today the unique design of forward-mounted turning ring, sloping rear frame and free swinging tandem bogie distributes weight equally throughout the trucks, providing excellent stability.
This allows the trucks can operate on very rough and soft terrain on construction sites such as road projects and mass excavation hauling as well as in mining and quarrying applications.
