Chinese equipment manufacturers Shantui, famed for their bulldozers, pulled the covers off a 105 tonne bulldozer at bauma China, powered by a 708kW Cummins engine.

Heralded as a breakthrough model by the manufacturer, the 6.5m-wide blade has a cubic capacity of 45m³, while the machine is 11.5m in length, with 4.5m of ground contact track.

According to Shantui, multiple technical breakthroughs were made in the areas of machinery integration, heat management system and modular design of the monster crawler bulldozer.

The modular design makes for easy disassembly and assembly as well as easy maintenance, while the machine has a V-type, direct injection, supercharged intercooled diesel engine.

Blade features include double tilt cylinders for control over the blade tilting angle and effective drop below ground.

Speaking at the show, Chang Yang, chief representative of Shantui Construction Machinery FZE, said that he expects the machine will find Middle East buyers mainly for mining and quarrying projects in Saudi Arabia, as well as projects requiring major earthworks.

One highlight of the machine for Middle East markets may be Shantui’s new hydraulic control fan system, which adjusts the fan speed according to working conditions, allowing for reduced energy consumption as well as operating in high ambient temperatures.
