Terex Construction has appointed Zero48 as its first dealer in west Africa, which will sell Terex’s vehicles and machinery through its local subsidiary ISB Sarl.
Zero48 sells machinery in Africa, Latin America and Europe, as well as having interests in a 20-hectare granite quarry in Guinea. It will initially focus on selling Terex’s range of articulated and rigid trucks in Guinea, as well as other construction products.
Through its subsidiary, IBS Sarl, the company will be able to provide aftermarket support for trucks that are out in the field, as well as equipment monitoring options.
Guinea’s economy is largely dependent on agriculture and mineral production, and the new relationship between Zero48 and Terex Construction will help to meet demands for trucks in the mining industry and for construction machines to develop new infrastructures, said Terex’s sales director for North West Africa, Manuel Leal.
“Guinea is a fast-growing market, therefore, we are pleased to form a relationship with a company that has experience in delivering major construction initiatives in the region,” said Leal.
“Zero48 is a company which prides itself on its local knowledge and continued development of the communities in which it operates, and this made it the obvious choice when we looked to appoint a new dealer.”
Zero48’s President, Paolo Allen Bosco, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Terex as they are one of the leading construction equipment manufacturers in the world. It was important for us to find an organization which is forward-thinking and has faith in emerging markets such as Guinea, and in Terex we found that.
“Key to Zero48’s philosophy is promoting sustainability and leaving a legacy in the areas in which we operate. Terex also has a similar ethos which will complement ours perfectly. At our new office, which is currently being developed, we aim to employ predominately local people and we will help develop skill-sets they will have for life, such as machinery operation.”
