Mannai Trading Heavy Equipment Division, exclusive agents for JCB in Qatar, held a launch event for four new JCB machines, the skid steer loader 135 and mini excavator 8030 ZTS, along with new models of the 467ZX wheeled loading shovel, and the 1CX backhoe loader.
Speaking at the event, general manager Khalid Yousef said there is a growing need in construction to optimise functionality and productivity in tight spaces.
“The construction sector in Qatar is highly competitive and as partners to construction companies in delivering world-class heavy equipment and continuing after sales support, we are seeing a trend towards amplifying the range of existing heavy equipment with more flexible solutions that can reach tighter spaces and perform to the same high standards,” he said.
“Smaller heavy machines are actually used a lot in construction.” Nevertheless, smaller machines require the small level of operating skills as their larger counterparts operating the larger machines, said Yousef.
“[Larger machines] often perform all the heavy work in the preliminary stages, however, as a project comes close to completion, more compact and maneuverable equipment such as skid steer loaders and mini excavators are important,” explained Yousef.
“They can fit down a standard alleys and can actually complete a lot of work in a short space of time. skid steer loaders for example are used extensively in road works.”Â
