MAN Truck & Bus has announced its intention to showcase a range of new product innovations at the Big 5, including a realistic truck driving simulator with genuine cabin.

Attendees will be able to evaluate their driving skills through basic and advanced training without experiencing any of the risks associated with operating a truck in a real-life environment. The simulator projects a realistic driving environment directly onto the window of the cab. This arrangement helps to immerse the driver in the simulation environment.

In addition to taking on a manoeuvrability course, users will be able to choose from a variety of driving environments, including mountain roads, urban areas and highways. The simulator can emulate a number of vehicles set up in different configurations, such as trucks with varying trailers and vehicle loads. The software can also replicate special situations such as driving with brake failure, in side winds, and after a tyre blow-out.

The simulator consists of an original MAN truck driver’s cab with functional operating and display elements. Drivers receive tactile feedback in the form of return forces on the steering wheel and pedals.

MAN will also use the Big 5 to showcase its new TGS WW 6×4 tractor head, which has been exclusively designed for this region. Other products on display will include the MAN TGS WW 6×4 rigid tipper and the MAN D26 diesel engine. The company will also use the event to promote its after-sales services.

“This year, MAN Truck & Bus will participate at the PMV Live show, which is collocated with the Big 5 for the third consecutive time, and we are looking forward to an exciting event,” said David van Graan, head of the MAN Center Middle East and VP of Sales & Marketing. “The Big 5 has been a very successful and strategic platform for us to showcase our project innovation, which plays a key role in the enhanced efficiency of MAN trucks, thereby leading to high productivity and low transport costs for our customers.”
