Terex-owned manufacturer Genie sold one of its ZX-135 self-propelled articulating booms within hours of the official opening of the Big 5 2013.

The company, which specialises in material lifts and aerial work platforms, is one of more than 3,000 exhibitors participating in PMV Live at The Big 5. Genie’s next-generation boom is capable of reaching heights of up to 43m.

“This was a phenomenal start to the event for us,” commented Sharbel Kordhi, Terex’s general manager for the Middle East and Southern Africa. “We had taken a journalist for a spin on the boom that morning, and by midday, it had been sold: a true testament to the flexibility of the space at PMV Live and the ability to bring products to life for the audience.”

PMV Live, which is collocated with the Big 5 and Middle East Concrete, is currently taking place at Dubai World Trade Centre. The event will continue until Thursday 28 November. PMV Live gives exhibitors the chance to showcase the latest innovations from the plant, machinery, and vehicles sectors.

Organisers claim that exhibitors from across the heavy construction sector were successful in conducting deals on the opening day of the event.

“What a fantastic way to kick off the show,” said PMV Live’s event director Nathan Waugh. “Sentiment leading up to the event was extremely positive and expectations for the industry in the region are certainly high. It is encouraging to see this materialise at the exhibition. We look forward to finding out what the rest of the week has in store.”
