India-based Leighton Welspun Contractors is using a trio of Potain MC 125 tower cranes at the Wave One commercial development in Noida, India.
Located near New Delhi, Wave One comprises a high-rise development in the heart of the city, and as such, is surrounded by congested streets. As part of their demanding schedule, the Potain cranes are working almost constantly, pouring concrete and lifting general construction materials to build the landmark project’s two 41-storey towers.
The cranes are currently erected at heights of 68m, 74m and 80m. All three of the six tonne units will reach a final working height of approximately 140m. In total, Leighton Welspun owns seven Potain tower cranes, and the contractor claims that it is more than satisfied with the quality of the units.
“Potain cranes are exceptional – they are easy to use, quick to erect, and perform tirelessly on the job site to keep our projects moving,” said Sanjeet Singh Malik, plant manager at Leighton Welspun. “We are responsible for several landmark developments across India, so we need cranes we can rely on and an expert support service to fall back on. Manitowoc gives us both of these things and we are very proud of our Potain fleet.”
Once finished, Wave One will feature high-end offices, retail spaces, cinemas and restaurants. Even though the Potain giants have been working at the site since 2011, there is still plenty of work to be done. The cranes will continue to operate for 22 hours each day until the project is complete in 2014.
