Chicago Pneumatic supplies approximately 80% of the portable compressors used by Navi-Mumbai’s bluestone quarries. After a six-year campaign, the company has sold more than 150 compressors to quarries across the region.
Akshay Stones became Chicago Pneumatic’s first Navi-Mumbai customer in October 2007 with the purchase of a CPS325 compressor. One month later, neighbouring quarry Mauli Stones placed an order for the same model.
Since then, each of these quarries has purchased three additional CPS325 units from Chicago Pneumatic, and Akshay Stones is currently considering whether to purchase two CPS450E or three CPS300E compressors in preparation for the opening of its new site.
In collaboration with its local dealer Harshit Pneumatic, Chicago Pneumatic has built up its local reputation by focusing on product reliability and after-sales support.
“When we first started working in Navi-Mumbai, our dealer was well aware of the local market and identified a range of customer needs, including common complaints about older models of compressors,” commented Chicago Pneumatic’s key segment manager Kailas Rahatkar. “As a result, Harshit Pneumatic was able to successfully leverage out products’ reliable performance through word of mouth.
“We are servicing the Navi-Mumbai quarry industry through our dealer, which is located within 3km of the stone quarries,” he added.
