NAH Trading & Contracting is using a fleet of Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) to complete two major infrastructure projects in Lebanon.
The infrastructure specialist has deployed a diverse range of Volvo CE machines for the projects, including wheel loaders, compactors, excavators, and articulated haulers. One of NAH’s star players, however, is a factory overhauled Volvo paver that the firm purchased in June of last year.
“The Volvo ABG Titan 473-2 paver has been rotating from one project to the other, allowing fast paving cycles and reliable, accurate paving with synchronised movement of the screed, according to the soil conditions,” explained Nassim Abou-Habib, owner of NAH. “We have used other brands of pavers but we have never been fully satisfied until we acquired this machine.”
NAH is using its Volvo CE fleet to work on two road projects in the Mount Lebanon Province: the $29mn Bir Hayth to Kartaba road and the $20mn road from Bikilia to Sannine. Both projects were awarded by Lebanon’s Council for Development and Reconstruction, and are being conducted in a bid to improve tourism in Middle Eastern investment.
The Volvo CE fleet has allowed NAH to continue working through challenging environmental conditions, according to Nassim.
“Volvo articulated haulers have exceptional manoeuvrability over muddy and rocky terrains, especially for the Sannine project where soil turns into mud during the winter,” he said. “The machines have fast cycle times and are reliable in these difficult conditions.”
The Volvo CE fleet was supplied and is being maintained by authorised Lebanese dealer AMTRAC. The projects are due to end in August 2014, and are already 85% complete.
