Manitowoc Cranes has announced plans to move away from its regional model in favour of a global product line management strategy.

The new product line-oriented approach is being adopted in a bid to strengthen the firm’s customer focus, improve operational efficiencies, and enhance the decision-making process.

“As our customers become more global, we need to adapt our structure to respond faster to their evolving needs, streamline communications, and manage inventory availability more efficiently,” commented Eric Etchart, president of Manitowoc Cranes.

Under the new management structure, Manitowoc will divide operations into four distinct product lines: rough-terrain, boom truck and industrial cranes; tower cranes; crawler cranes; and all-terrain and truck cranes. These divisions will be supported by the company’s new global sales and marketing organisation, which will retain a regional structure whilst operating under international management.

Three executives will comprise the firm’s senior management team. Larry Weyers is to become Manitowoc’s new global executive vice president, Josef Matosevic has been chosen as the new executive vice president of operations and procurement, and Dean Nolden will become the new executive vice president of finance and information systems.

“This new structure aligns the key resources and accountability closer to our customer value stream to position the business for future growth, and streamline the speed in which we make decisions,” said Etchart.

Manitowoc’s new management structure is to be implemented with immediate effect.
