Demag Cranes & Components is to grow its production capabilities in Saudi Arabia.

The German-headquartered bridge crane manufacturer, which forms part of the Terex family, is in the process of employing 10 new staff members to keep pace with growing regional demand.

“We can see that the market is improving and our customers agree,” said David Fairweather, general manager of Demag’s Middle East operations. “We will also be introducing some new products to the market during the next few months. These are exciting times.”

Demag production facilities in the UAE and KSA produce steelwork and electrical panels for cranes sold to the local market. Motors and gearboxes, meanwhile, are supplied by Demag factories in other regions. Products sold in the Middle East are assembled in the region.

“Some of our components are manufactured in Germany, and everybody is aware of German engineering capabilities,” said Fairweather. “Even so, Demag’s production systems in this region are based on its German operations. We copy and paste the systems from Germany, which means that the components we manufacture here are of equally high quality as those produced in Europe.”

In addition to 10 new KSA construction staff, Demag is also looking to appoint new dealers across the Middle East. The expansion will not only help the manufacturer to keep pace with growing market demand, but also to ensure that it is prepared for its upcoming product launches.
