Wacker Neuson has unveiled a new compact excavator that offers emissions-free operation through either mains connectivity or a specialised generator.

Although the Wacker Neuson 803 includes a conventional diesel engine, the machine also offers users a dual-power option. In order to perform emissions-free applications, the machine can be connected to a mains outlet, or can be powered by an external HPU8 electro-hydraulic drive unit.

The excavator has been designed to offer the features of a conventional diesel excavator, but with emissions-free functionality. However, Wacker Neuson has not compromised ease of use in favour of the additional power options.

Two openings are embedded in the excavator’s dozer blade so that the HPU8 unit can be easily transported. The dimensions of the 803 and the HPU8 are matched to one another so that the machine can be driven through narrow openings with its power source attached.

Hydraulic power is supplied to the excavator via its undercarriage, allowing for unrestricted 360° rotation during electrical operation. The HPU8 unit is capable of working under full load at up to 45°C ambient temperature, as well as at low temperatures.

With its indoor and outdoor applications, Wacker Neuson is confident that the 803 excavator will prove popular amongst rental companies. At 190kg, the unit can be stored and transported easily.
