More than a thousand Potain tower cranes have been built and sold from Manitowoc’s factory in Pune, India.
Manitowoc’s tower crane brand, Potain, sold its 1,001st Pune-built unit to Indian rental firm Sai Infraaequipments. A handover ceremony was conducted in March to mark the occasion.
“We are very proud to pass this milestone and set the standard as the leading producer of high-quality tower cranes in India,” commented Ashwani Mattoo, Manitowoc’s tower crane sales director for India.
“We have continually increased production to meet demand, and we continually expand our product range to offer more diversity. We look forward to making the next 1,000 cranes,” he added.
Manitowoc’s Pune factory has almost tripled its rate of production during the past six years to meet growing demand for tower cranes in the Indian market. The units produced at the manufacturer’s Pune factory are sold globally as well as domestically.
“Potain has cemented its place as India’s leading producer of tower cranes, which made it an easy choice to buy this new crane,” said Kathirvelu Ilango, managing director at Sai.
The rental company now owns 11 Potain tower cranes in total. In fact, Sai was so impressed with its first unit that it purchased 10 Potain MCi 85 models within the space of 12 months.
“We work to tight schedules on many different projects so we need excellent equipment that can be flexible. Our new Potain crane will get to work right away, and we are certain it will provide many years of efficient and reliable service,” he concluded.
