Manitowoc has received an order for 50 of its Grove-branded rough-terrain cranes from South Korean fleet operator, Chunjo Construction.
The order was placed by Chunjo representatives attending CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2014 in Las Vegas. The RT770Es will be used to update the operator’s existing fleet of 68 Grove rough-terrain cranes.
“The Grove RT770E is a new market leader and its versatility make it perfect for many jobs,” said Jang Hwan Chang, president of Chunjo Construction.
“Updating our fleet with the latest crane models reduces maintenance costs, fuel costs, and downtime, so we can offer very competitive rental rates and win more contracts,” he added.
Seven units will be delivered to Chunjo this month, and Chunjo will receive the remaining 43 throughout the course of 2014. The cranes will be used on a range of engineering and construction projects being conducted by Chunjo customers, which include some of the world’s largest construction and project management firms.
“We have already sold 50 older Grove cranes from our fleet, and we had no problems selling them, because they are robust units that offer exceptional residual value,” explained Chang.
“You can visit almost any job site in the world and there will be people on site [who have experience of working] with Grove RT cranes, and that is very valuable for our clients. We are delighted to add such a large number of cranes to our fleet, and we are confident they will provide many years of great service,” he explained.
Launched at the Las Vegas trade show last month, the 65t-capacity RT770E features a five-section, full-power boom that incorporates single-cylinder technology. This arrangement negates the need for a hydraulic hose reel, lightening the boom, and thus, the crane itself.
The model can be fitted with a 10.1m-17.1m bi-fold swing-away that, in combination with the main boom, can reach 59.1m and extend to the working radius to 43.9m.
