Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has been awarded the International Organisation for Standardisation (IS0) Business Continuity Management certificate.

The handover ceremony took place at RTA’s head office in Dubai, and was attended by a selection of high-ranking figures from the RTA, the British Embassy, and the British Standards Institution (BSI). Those in attendance included His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, chairman of the board and executive director of RTA; Dominic Jermey, British Ambassador to the UAE; and Theuns Kotzé, the BSI’s regional managing director for the Middle East and Africa.

In order to obtain ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management, the RTA had to demonstrate that it is capable of understanding and prioritising threats to its business. The BSI judged the authority on both the implementation and testing of plans to minimise the likelihood of disruptive incidents, and its ability to continue to operate following such an incident.

The certificate was presented to HE Al Tayer by Ambassador Jermey on behalf of the BSI.
