Bee’ah has launched its ‘Recycling Just Got Easier’ campaign in Sharjah.
The initiative is to be rolled out in key locations across the Emirate in a bid to spearhead community recycling efforts and expand the Sharjah Residential Recycling programme. As part of the campaign, green and blue waste disposal and recycling bags will be made available to Sharjah Cooperative Society outlets, and recycling bins will be strategically distributed to a number of residential neighbourhoods.
“Bee’ah’s mission has long been to spark community engagement, share knowledge with the public on environmental issues, and prompt them into green action,” said Khaled Al Huraimel, Bee’ah’s group CEO.
“Since the company’s founding, we have launched a slew of ground-breaking education and awareness programmes, which set out to transform environmental thoughts, attitudes, and behaviours amongst Sharjah residents,” he added.
Bee’ah – the company that introduced residential recycling to the UAE – expanded the Sharjah Residential Recycling Programme throughout the city at the beginning of 2012. The ‘Recycling Just Got Easier’ campaign represents the latest step in the company’s efforts to grow residential recycling across the emirate.
The bags will come in different sizes and be available at Sharjah Cooperative Society outlets in Qarayen, Halwan, Al Khan, Abushagara, Sweihat, and Nukhailat. Once the campaign enters its second phase, the bags will be stored at an additional 20 Sharjah Cooperative Society sites.
The company has stated that its objectives will lead to the treatment of all the waste collected through its recycling facilities. This will be turned into usable material, and in turn, invested back into the local economy. Treatment initiatives will include waste-to-energy technology, organic composting, metal recycling, and the treatment of other waste streams.
The latest steps have been taken in line with Bee’ah’s overarching goal to achieve zero waste to landfill in Sharjah by 2015; a goal established in accordance with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi.
“These unprecedented recycling campaigns further cement our steadfast dedication to pioneering environmental education,” commented Al Huraimel.
