The first SENNEBOGEN 821 E-Series delivered to the French market has made a solid impression, handling up to 480 tonnes of scrap metal daily.

The compact materials handling machine is owned by Eurometal, and is working at the company’s Meyzieu scrapyard near Lyon.

The unit was supplied by SENNEBOGEN’s authorised French distributor, Sygmat, at the beginning of 2013.

With its 11m reach and 23-tonne operating weight, the SENNEBOGEN machine has proven itself as a reliable all-rounder at the scrap and recycling site.

Eurometal, which handles approximately 15,000 tonnes of scrap and aluminium waste annually, says that the E-Series unit is a worthy successor to the SEBBEBOGEN 821 C-Series unit that it replaced.

The machine boasts a 97kW Tier 3b engine and an all-wheel mobile undercarriage, making it sufficiently flexible to operate across the entire site. The latest 821 is also suitable for indoor use, with a rear radius of only 2.42m and a width of just 2.55m.

The unit’s ‘Maxcab’ has been praised by Eurometal operators for its comfort, and can be elevated to a viewing height of 5.8m. Moreover, the machine offers lower noise emissions than its predecessor, with reductions of as much as 50%.

The E-Series machine loads and sorts materials at a rate of two cycles per minute, and Eurometal’s first internal measurements have found that the 821 is consuming fewer than 9L of fuel per hour. Idle stop automation and ‘ECO Mode’ have been integrated to aid fuel efficiency, and in ‘Optimode’, adjustments can be made for each area of implementation. In combination with the manufacturer’s optimised engine controller, SENNEBOGEN claims that fuel savings of up to 25% are possible.
