Galadari Trucks & Heavy Equipment (GTHE) has revealed that it is in the process of supplying 96 machines for the Government of Ras Al Khaimah’s Aly Aaref development.
The construction units are performing preliminary levelling work at the site, which is located just off Exit 122 of the UAE’s Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road.
Once completed, the development will include educational, commercial, and residential buildings.
“This section of the project began in April 2014,” explained Omar Qsrawi, GTHE’s account service manager for the project.
“The landscape is already completely different to how it was when we started. We photograph the area every month. At the end of the project, we will be able to show what our vehicles have achieved,” he added.
So far, GTHE has supplied approximately 80 Komatsu and Bomag machines to the site. The UAE-headquartered dealer is aiming to deliver the remainder of the units before the end of 2014.
All of the machines are owned and operated by the Government of Ras Al Khaimah’s Public Works & Services Department.
“The equipment is levelling the desert so that the client can build a small city,” explained Nabil Abdi, GTHE’s onsite product support engineer.
“The majority of machines that GTHE has provided for this project are being used for levelling applications. The Government of Ras Al Khaimah has purchased a variety of units from us. We’ve supplied dozers, wheel loaders, excavators, motor graders, dump trucks, and rollers,” he added.
Some of the largest machines in use at the Aly Aaref project are the Komatsu HM400 articulated dump trucks. Six of the models have been ordered in total. To date, four have arrived, and the remaining two are due to be delivered this afternoon.
“Today, I will receive the last two dump trucks,” revealed Qsrawi speaking to PMV this morning.
“Three have already been received, so I’m just waiting for two. They were loaded onto the lorry early this morning, so by mid-afternoon, I should have received the last of the site’s HM400 units,” he explained.
Earlier this month, PMV spoke to Alaa Hamaida from the Government of Ras Al Khaimah’s Public Works and Services Department. As site manager at the Aly Aaref project, Hamaida is responsible for the entire cohort of equipment supplied by GTHE.
“The project is around eight-million square metres – maybe a little more,” he said. “In terms of the GTHE machinery, we should be up to full capacity during the fourth quarter of 2014.
“In the past, we have made some smaller deals with Galadari, but this is the biggest that we have taken. In total, we will have purchased 96 machines from GTHE during 2014. This is just from the one dealer,” Hamaida added.
