Potain has revealed that it will showcase an MCT 85 tower crane at the 2014 Concrete Show South America in Brazil.

The five-tonne-capacity lifter will take centre stage at the São Paulo event later this month.

The MCT 85 is the successor to the MCi 85, Potain’s best-selling tower crane for more than a decade.

“The Potain MCT 85 offers maximum performance for a variety of projects, due to its high working speed and operational versatility,” said Didier Bigay, tower crane regional sales manager for South Africa at Potain’s parent company, Manitowoc.

“Its special features include low-noise emission, simplified assembly, broad load curves, and low power consumption,” he added.

The MCT 85 boasts a maximum jib length of 52m and a tip load of 1.1 tonnes. Locabens Equipment, Manitowoc’s Brazillian dealer, is confident that the Potain brand has what it takes to make the MCT 85 a success at the event.

“Potain is known for its reliability and functionality, a reputation shared with other Manitowoc-brand cranes,” said Paulo Carvalho, sales director at Locabens.

“Potain customers are not only purchasing a product from Locabens; they’re buying a solution as well,” he added.

The Potain MCT 85 is assembled at Manitowoc’s facility in Passo Fundo, Brazil. Indeed, like Carvalho, Bigay says that the brand enjoys an enviable reputation in the South American market.

“Countries like Brazil, Chile, and Peru have ambitious timetables for construction over the next five years,” he explained.

“Therefore, customers who can ensure projects progress more efficiently will have a considerable advantage,” he concluded.

The 2014 Concrete Show South America will be held at São Paulo’s Centro de Exposições Imigrantes from 28 to 29 August.
