Machine companies help China’s quake relief

Several manufacturers have dropped equipment in the areas of China stricken by May's earthquake.

Several manufacturers have dropped equipment in the areas of China stricken by May’s earthquake.

Efforts to rebuild Sichuan province have been helped by Liugong, which along with its dealers, has sent some 100 wheeled loaders and 30 excavators to the affected areas.

Other donors include Kobleco, which has sent two excavators and four wheeled loaders, while British firm JCB has lifted in half a dozen 3CX backhoe loaders. Caterpillar has also supplied a number of backhoes.

Local contractors have also taken their equipment off site and into the area. Mobile cranes from various regional manufacturers have been working through the night in an effort to clear debris.

Case supplied an AWD backhoe and has also sent a number of training staff to assist the Chinese army. Just returning from China, Case CEO, Jim McCullough, said, “The suffering of those impacted cannot be fully grasped. We at Case wanted to help aid the relief efforts and we remain hopeful our equipment donation brings the assistance needed to save more lives.”
